Distribution. Nearctic. Canada: NB, NF, ON, QC. USA: AL, AR, DC, MA, ME, NC, NH, NJ, NY, OH, PA, RI, SC, TN, VT, WI.
Collection and Habitat data. The NH specimens were captured by flight intercept and Malaise traps, and found in leaf litter below a birch tree sap drip, and in rotting lawn clippings. Collected from April to August. Elsewhere found in meadows, forests, pastures, river margins, lakeshores, mixed and hardwood forests, various decaying organic materials such as animal droppings (deer, dog, human feces), decaying fungi, carrion (fish, deer, crow), compost, algal mat on pond, oak-madrone duff, drift material along lake, in mud in a meadow, and entrances to groundhog ( Marmota monax (L.)) burrows ( Klimaszewski 1984, Klimaszewski et al. 2018).
