Ophioglossum vulgatum Linnaeus , Species Plantarum 2: 1062. 1753.

Lectotype (Bobrov in Novosti Sist. Vyssh. Rast. 21:6. 1984): Herb. Linn. No. 1243.1 ( LINN) .

Generitype of Ophioglossum Linnaeus (vide Smith, Hist. Fil.: 367. 1875).

Current name: Ophioglossum vulgatum L. ( Ophioglossaceae ).

Note: Pichi Sermolli (in Webbia 26: 492. 1972) provided an extensive discussion of the typification of Ophioglossum .

Jonsell & Jarvis (in Jarvis & al., Regnum Veg. 127: 71. 1993; in Nordic J. Bot. 14: 148. 1994) designated a Clifford sheet as lectotype, unaware of Bobrov’s earlier type choice.
