– Hypogastrura rangkuli Martynova in Martynova & Chelnokov, 1975: 468
– Hypogastrura devia Christiansen & Bellinger sensu Fjellberg 1985: 28
AK Fjellberg 1985 as devia ; Babenko & Fjellberg 2006
Remarks: This single Alaskan record of the species is uncertain. H. rangkuli was originally described from high mountain regions of Central Asia; it was later found on the Siberian Arctic coast ( Babenko et al. 1994) and in Indian Himalaya ( Mandal & Arbea 2014). The species shares an unmodified maxillary head with only one other species of the manubrialis group, H. serrata . The latter was also recorded in the High Arctic recently ( Babenko 2018). As these species are not well differentiated (although H. rangkuli is usually darker and has a finer granulation), further study is needed to determine the status of these forms. True H. devia appears to be a junior synonym of H. assimilis (see remarks on those species).
General distribution: uncertain.
