Replaced synonym of: Ononis trifoliata L. (1767) , nom. illeg.

Lectotype (Stirton in S. African J. Bot. 52: 3. 1986): Herb. Clifford: 373, Trifolium 5 (BM-000646736) .

Current name: Otholobium fruticans (L.) C.H. Stirt. View in CoL ( Fabaceae : Faboideae ).

Note: Although Wijnands ( Bot. Commelins: 166. 1983) stated that the Clifford material "probably could serve as the lectotype ", this did not effect formal typification. Stirton subsequently made a formal type choice.
