Mirollia paralata sp. n.
Figs. 2S, 11C, 20H, 21B
Holotype (female): East Malaysia, Sabah: Mt. Kinabalu, NP Headquarters [6°10'N, 116°39'E], 19.viii.1990, leg. R. Bouwer, depository: Senckenberg Museum Frankfurt ( SMF).
Diagnosis. Female subgenital plate similar to that of M. carinata (Haan, 1842) from Java (Figs. 20H, M). It differs however by the modification of the lower ovipositor valves (Fig. 21B). A similar external process of the dorsal margin of the lower ovipositor valves in proximal area is so far only known from M. lata Gorochov, 2008 from Trus Madi Mt. in Sabah. The specimen at hand differs by the process being shorter and by the subgenital plate with a fine medial carina and the absence of a faint extension at the bottom of the apical excision. In general characters, it differs by less widened tegmina with the RS forked as typical for Mirollia (being modified in fig. 19 in Gorochov 2008), and by the absence of black dots on pronotum.
Description. Fastigium verticis narrow, furrowed, descending anteriorly, tip obtuse; separated from fastigium frontis by a gap (Fig. 11C). Pronotum with strong medial carina interrupted by main transverse sulcus, obsolete before hind margin; disc with rounded lateral angles, apical area flat; anterior margin substraight, posterior margin convex; paranota deeper than long; humeral sinus weak. Tegmen moderately wide; apex rounded (Fig. 2S); hind wings projecting.
Female. Subgenital plate with fine medial carina; hind margin wide-angularly excised; apico-lateral angles obtuse (Figs. 20H, 21B). Ovipositor falcate; dorsal margin of ventral valves in proximal area with an obtuse process just behind end of subgenital plate (Fig. 21B).
Coloration. Yellow; probably green when alive. Scapus of antennae with external and dorsal surfaces (when directed forwards) and very base of internal surface black; pedicellus faintly infumate at base; otherwise antennae yellowish with very faint, spaced annulation. Tegmen along dorsal margin with a rather regular band of black dots; with faint reddish dots in centre of the large cells (Fig. 2S). Fore tibia with black marks at tympana.
Measurements (1 female). Body w/wings: 33; body w/o wings: 13; pronotum: 4.3; tegmen: 26; hind wing: 30; hind femur: 13; ovipositor: 7 mm.
Etymology. Named for its similarity with M. lata .
