Deflorita argentata Ingrisch 1998 , Entomol. Z. 108: 102
Holotype (male): Thailand, Nakhon Ratchasima prov., Khao Yai [14°23'N, 101°23'E], 700 m, 15–18.x.1990 ( ZFMK).
Material studied: Malaysia: 1 male, Fed. Malay States, leg. C.J. Brooks ( BMNH); 1 male, Malay Peninsula, ex coll. Agr. Dept. Kuala Lumpur ( BMNH); 1 male, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur [3°9'N, 101°42'E], 27.iv.1976, leg. J.A. Whellan ( BMNH). Singapore: 1 male, Singapore [1°22'N, 103°49'E], 28.v.1991, leg. E. Sismondo ( BMNH).
Discussion. D. argentata , described from Central Thailand, is similar to the type species D. deflorita Brunner, 1878 from Sri Lanka, but differs by narrower tegmen with a shortened stridulatory area in male (compare Fig. 3J with 3E). The two males at hand agree in details with the type of D. argentata . The known range of the species is thus extended to the Malay Peninsula. The stridulatory apparatus of the species had not yet been described in detail.
Description. Fastigium verticis faintly furrowed at base; sloping anteriorly with tip little projecting and curved up again (Fig. 1F). Pronotum with anterior and posterior margins faintly concave or hind margin truncate; disc with lateral angles rounded; paranota deeper than long; humeral sinus weak but distinct. Tegmen with anterior margin curved; narrowest at beginning of apical quarter, then little widening again; apex triangular with angle rounded (Fig. 2B).
Male. Stridulatory area of tegmen with lobular posterior expansion that is separate from tegmen (Fig. 3J). Stridulatory file on underside of left tegmen concave; 0.98–1.01 mm long; teeth very dense; with 123–141 teeth, equating 122–144 teeth per mm (Fig. 4C). Mirror on right tegmen in anterior area deeply depressed; 1.20 mm long, 1.13 mm wide; index length: width 1.06 (Fig. 3K). Second abdominal tergite longer than the following tergites especially in dorsal area but not swollen; densely covered with dense long hairs in middle, to which in the specimen studied some white secretionary material was sticking (Figs. 8J–K). Tenth abdominal tergite with large triangular membranous area from base; otherwise depressed in middle, swollen at both sides; apex truncate. Epiproct rounded with medial furrow in basal half (Fig. 6C). Cerci reaching about tip of subgenital plate, little curved; apex obliquely truncate with compressed sharp apico-internal tooth (Fig. 6A). Subgenital plate prolonged; split from apex for more than half of its length into two narrow recurved lobes, tips pointing dorso-proximad (Figs. 6B, D, E).
Coloration. Green. Head with fastigii and vertex white; latter with two brown bands behind each eye. Antenna on scapus with black stroke at dorsal side; pedicellus with black dot at dorsal side and black margin; flagellum annulated. Pronotum green; for almost anterior half with white spot outlined by brown line, in anterior angles of brown band with a small white spot. Abdominal tergites yellowish brown; lateral areas with large white spots outlined by red or brown lines; spots getting smaller, indistinct or missing on last tergites; inter-segmental membrane dark brown; first five abdominal tergites white. Tegmen green, hind margin and apical area blackish brown, an oblique brown stroke along costa; stridulatory area with white veins and veinlets, fields transparent. Hind wings transparent, projecting area brown. Anterior tibia with two black strokes at tympanal area. Hind femur with genicular area infumate. All tibiae with black dots just below knee. Hind tibia with apical area infumate. Third segment of fore and mid tarsi and all of hind tarsus brown.
Measurements (4 males). Body w/wings: 27–31; body w/o wings: 14–17; pronotum: 3.0–3.2; tegmen: 18.5– 21.0; hind wing: 22–25; hind femur: 11.0– 12.5 mm.
