Male terminalia ( Figs. 38–44 View FIGURES 34 – 41 View FIGURES 42 – 47 ): Black. Medioapical region of hypandrium with concavity ( Fig. 39 View FIGURES 34 – 41 ). Epandrium wide basally with finger-like lobe placed dorsally. Apex of finger-like lobe rounded in lateral view ( Fig. 40 View FIGURES 34 – 41 ); subepandrial sclerite without lateral projections, apical margin rounded ( Fig. 41 View FIGURES 34 – 41 ); gonocoxite with apical 1/3 digitiform ( Fig. 42 View FIGURES 42 – 47 ); gonostyle subrectangular, covered with small setae anteriorly and with long setae posteriorly ( Figs. 42, 43 View FIGURES 42 – 47 ); aedeagus with two long prongs ( Fig. 44 View FIGURES 42 – 47 ); ejaculatory apodeme wide in lateral view ( Fig. 44 View FIGURES 42 – 47 ). Female terminalia ( Fig. 46, 47 View FIGURES 42 – 47 ): Tergite VIII expanded laterally ( Figs. 46, 47 View FIGURES 42 – 47 ); tergite IX+X slightly membranous medially ( Fig. 46 View FIGURES 42 – 47 ); apex of sternite VIII truncate with mediaoapical slit ( Fig. 47 View FIGURES 42 – 47 ); hypoproct with spiniform setae; median sclerite at posterior end of furca (remnant of tergite IX) absent; two oval sclerotized spermathecal capsules.

Comments. Ctenodontina baleta (Walker) comb. nov., Pachychoeta caracasae Martin syn. nov. and Pachychoeta inca Martin syn. nov. were allocated in Lecania Macquart. However , these species have diagnostic characters of Ctenodontina . Lecania is a paraphyletic group and has no diagnostic characters defined. According to Artigas & Papavero (1995), Lecania “is an extremely varied assembly of species. This group needs a thorough revision to decide whether there are several genera involved or only one. The variation of the several characters is amazing, and there is an incredible combination of them”.

Ctenodontina baleta (Walker) comb. nov., P. caracasae Martin View in CoL syn. nov., P. inca Martin View in CoL syn. nov. as well as C. nairae View in CoL and C. martini View in CoL , do not have a spinous swelling ventrally on male hind femora ( Figs. 6, 7 View FIGURES 2 – 9 ). However, as discussed by Fisher (1985) and Vieira (2012b), Ctenodontina View in CoL is better defined by its very distinctive male and female terminalia and C. baleta (Walker) comb. nov., P. caracasae Martin View in CoL syn. nov. and P. inca Martin View in CoL syn. nov. by the following characters: female ovipositor with an apical comb of spines, and tergite VIII broadly expanded laterally, densely setose and cupped beneath, completely obscuring sternite VIII in profile and male specimens with an epandrium narrowed apically (usually terminating in a finger-like lobe), distinctly shorter than sternite VIII ( Fisher & Hespenheide 1992; Fisher 2009; Vieira 2012b).
