Distribution: Chiapas ( Mexico) and Belize to Peru, Bolivia, Venezuela, the Guianas, and NE Brazil; Trinidad.
Conservation: IUCN 2003 – Lower Risk (lc); not considered in IUCN / SSC Action Plan (2001).
Discussion: Originally described from fossils from Jamaica. Reviewed by Williams et al. (1995).
