Comments: Transfer of Cyrtisiopsis crassirostris Hesse to the new genus Ahessea results in the restriction of this genus to northern Africa and the eastern Mediterranean with a single known species from North America: Cyrtisiopsis americanus (Melander) , comb. n. [formerly in Platypygus ].
Distribution: North Africa: 3 species; Cyrtisiopsis algiricus (Séguy) comb. n., C. singularis Séguy , C. melleus (Loew) .
