Exothrips Priesner View in CoL View at ENA
Exothrips is an old World genus, comprises 20 species, most of which are described from India, with a few from Africa and Europe ( Priesner 1939; ThripsWiki 2023). One species, E. redox Bhatti , is known from Arabian Peninsula ( Yemen) (zur Strassen 1990). The genus is similar to Rhamphothrips , from which it can be distinguished by pronotum less than two times longer than head, with a conical mouth cone not extending beyond middle of pronotum. In contrast, in Rhamphothrips the pronotum is more than twice as long as the head, and the mouth cone is long and slender, usually extending to mesothorax (Bhatti & Mound 1992).
