SERICOTHRIPINAE Karny

This subfamily comprises about 169 species in three genera and is the second largest among the four subfamilies of Thripidae (ThripsWiki 2023) . Three species of Hydatothrips Karny ( adolfifriderici , boerhaaviae, bahaensis ) and three of Neohydatothrips John ( amygdali , masrensis, samayunkur ) are previously known from Arabian Peninsula, of which four species are recorded from Saudi Arabia ( Rasool et al. 2021c).
