Thrips (Heliothrips) syriacus Mayet, 1890: 451 View in CoL .
This cosmopolitian species was first described from Israel. It is now widespread in the tropics as a minor pest of several cultivated fruits and ornamental plants ( Lima et al. 2020). In Saudi Arabia, it is a serious pest on the leaves of vitis vinifera. The species was previously recorded from Saudi Arabia by Martin (1972).
Material studied. Al Jouf. Qaryaat , 25 females, 15 males and 24 larvae on leaves of vitis vinifera, 23. x.2021 ; Sakaka, five females, 3 males, 20 larvae, 24.x.2021 ; Madinah. Hajir , 75 females, 30 males and 50 larvae vitis vinifera, 19. x.2021 ; Yanbu Al Nakhil 10 females one male from Lawsonia inermis , 8.ii.2022 , Rasool, I.
