Scolothrips latipennis Priesner, 1950b: 54 View in CoL .
This Mediterranean species is widespread in Western and Southern Europe, Northern Africa, and Mediterranean Levant (zur Strassen & Kuslitzky 2011), and also extends to Saudi Arabia, Iran, and Ukraine. It is similar to S. brevipilis View in CoL , that is also known from the Arabian Peninsula, but can be distinguished by extensively shaded clavus and light brown abdominal tergites, in contrast to the pale clavus and yellow abdomen of S. brevipilis ( Mound 2011b) View in CoL .
