This monotypic genus can be recognized from other Thripinae by: antennae 6-segmented, sense cones on segment III–IV with simple; head with three pairs of ocellar setae, pair III arising antero-lateral to fore ocellus; three pairs of postocular setae present in transverse line; eyes with 6-pigmented facets; pronotum with two pairs of posteroangular setae; median pair of setae on metanotum arising well behind anterior margin; first vein of fore wing with 2–3 setae on distal half, second vein with 5–7 setae; pleurotergites with discal setae; tergite VIII posterior margin with teeth of craspeda; segment X with dorsal split.
