Discussion. This species is similar to P. coximaculata a nd may be distinguished as follows ( P. coximaculata in parentheses): hind trochanter black (hind trochanter white); dorsum of thorax and abdomen completely black (mesoscutellum, mesoscutellar appendage, metascutellum and middle of terga 3–6 with distinct white spots). It is also similar to P. melanosoma and may be distinguished as follows ( P. melanosoma in parentheses): complete inner orbit with narrow white stripe (lower half of inner orbit with white narrow stripe; malar space 1.5 times as long as diameter of median ocellus (malar space narrower than diameter of median ocellus); mesoscutellum with blunt lateral carina (mesoscutellum with sharp lateral carina); fore wing with middle petiole of anal cell quite short, about 1/2 length of basal part of anal cell (fore wing with middle petiole of anal cell quite long, slightly shorter than length of basal part of anal cell). Except for the serrulae, reliable morphological differences between these three species were not found.
