Type Locality: Malawi, Southern Region, Mulanje.

Vernacular Names: Greater Pouched Rat.

Distribution: Evergreen forest, 700-2000 m, in NE Zambia ( Ansell, 1978) and Malawi ( Ansell and Dowsett, 1988); possibly in Zambezia Dist., Mozambique ( Smithers and Tello, 1976).

Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (nt).
