Lectotype (Farjon & Jarvis in Jarvis & al., Regnum Veg. 127: 58. 1993): Herb. Clifford: 464, Juniperus 1 (BM-000647518) .

Generitype of Juniperus Linnaeus (vide Green, Prop. Brit. Bot.: 192. 1929).

Current name: Juniperus communis L. subsp. communis View in CoL ( Cupressaceae ).

Note: Although Imkhanitskaya (in Novosti Sist. Vyssh. Rast. 27: 7. 1990) indicated 1198.8 (LINN) as type, this is a post-1753 addition to the collection and not original material for the name.
