Lectotype (designated by Sideleva, 2003): ZIN 13750, northern part of Lake Baikal , depth 525 m, station 3, July 27, 1902, collected by A.A. Korotneff

Paralectotypes: ZIN 13751, Lake Baikal , opposite Cape Cheremshany, 8 km from the coast, depth 900 m, station 19, July 29, 1902, collected by A.A. Korotneff, one specimen .

ZIN 52092, northern part of Lake Baikal , depth 525 m, station 3, July 27, 1902, collected by A.A. Korotneff, one specimen .

Current status: Batrachocottus multiradiatus Berg, 1907 ( Taliev, 1955; Sideleva, 1982, 2003).

Counts: D1 7, D2 18, A 15, P 18, V 3, C 25, vert. 35 (abdominal 11, caudal 24), two-pairs of pleural ribs.

Diagnosis: dorsal, pectoral and caudal fins have dark transverse stripes; the first dorsal fin is high, it contacts with the second dorsal fin; anal fin long, ending on vertical line of last two rays of second dorsal fin; interorbital width is greater than diameter of eye.

Proportional measurements as percentages of standard length (123.7 mm): predorsal length 38.6, preanal length 53.8, maximum body depth 22.1, length of caudal peduncle 15.9, depth of caudal peduncle 7.2, length of first dorsal-fin base 14.6, length of second dorsal-fin base 33.8, length of anal-fin base 28.1, length of longest first dorsalfin ray 11.0, length of longest second dorsal-fin ray 16.7, length of longest anal-fin ray 13.1, pectoral-fin length 23.3, pelvic-fin length 15.2, distance between first and second dorsal fins 2.8, head length 37.3, postorbital length 19.1, head depth 20.5, head width 27.5, eye horizontal diameter 7.0, snout length 11.9, interorbital width 6.5, upper jaw length 15.8, interbranchial width 1.4, length of gill slit 22.6.
