Crasilogia flavipennis Warren View in CoL : Scoble, 1999: 192 (checklist).
Type material. Syntype male, British New Guinea [ Papua New Guinea], Mambaré River , Biagi , 5000 ft. [1524 m], iii.[19]06. (A.S. Meek), BMNH ( E)#817887, NHMUK012823186 ; syntype female, same data but iv.1906, BMNH ( E)#817889, NHMUK012823187 ( NHM).
Other material examined. One male, Papua New Guinea, Mambaré River, Biagi , 5000 ft. [1524 m], ii.[19]06. (A.S. Meek), NHMUK012823197 (formerly incorrectly identified as C. dispar ). Note. Several specimens identified as C. flavipennis are deposited in the NHM, however, they are not conspecific with C. flavipennis .
Diagnosis ( Figs 8, 9 View FIGURES 6–11 , 21, 22 View FIGURES 19–27 ). Forewings above with pattern similar to C. dispar , C. fulvitincta , and C. simplex , dark brown with some ochreous scales, with subbasal band similar to C. simplex , with an inwardly directed triangular subbasal notch, with median band slightly broader than in C. simplex , narrow at the hind margin, edged with whitish and bright yellow wavy lines, with a shallow medial projecting tooth outwards and a distinct inwardly directed postmedial streak near the costal margin, with a thin wavy whitish subterminal line with small medial and subapical projecting teeth. Hind wings in males with apex rounded, yellowish, with a large area of tawny scales and hairs medially and at the hind margin, with a rather large blotch of blackish brown androconial scales near tornus.
Male genitalia ( Figs 34, 35 View FIGURES 32–39 ). Uncus very thin, similar to C. dispar but slightly shorter, with enlarged basal outgrowths without distinct area of sclerotisation proximally; tegumen not elongated; valva somewhat kidneyshaped, protruded apically, with a broad ring of weak sclerotisation at base of costa, very broad at costal margin; not protruded outwards, with a small basal extension; labides broader and longer than in C. dispar , protruded distally, sickle-shaped; vinculum with a horn-shaped, rather broad at base, dorsal process and a large anterior hook; saccus similar to C. diversisimplex , rounded; aedeagus medium sized, with a rather small patch of medium sized cornuti and fine scobination in vesica.
Female genitalia ( Fig. 47 View FIGURES 46–51 ). Antrum broad, weakly sclerotised, with a rather flat base, very similar to C. dispar but slightly shorter. Ductus bursae narrower than in C. dispar , rather short, with lateral areas heavier sclerotized in its proximal half. Corpus bursae constricted medially, with the distal half elongate oval, mostly sclerotised, with rows of fine scobination and with the medium sized membranous protuberance near entrance of the ductus bursae, with the proximal bulb rounded, membranous. Ductus seminalis inserted on the membranous protuberance of cor- pus bursae near entrance of the ductus bursae. Signum a rather large, rounded, spiked patch of sclerotisation on the ventral side of the proximal bulb of corpus bursae.
Distribution. Papua New Guinea.
