Type Locality: Ecuador, Pastaza Prov., Río Bobonaza, Canelos, 2100 ft (640 m).
Vernacular Names: Large Oecomys.
Synonyms: Oecomys melleus Anthony 1924 ; Oecomys palmeri Thomas 1911 .
Distribution: Lower Andean slopes of E Colombia, Ecuador, and Perú, including contiguous lowlands of W Amazonia (see Patton et al., 2000).
Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).
