Type material. Holotype: male from Reserva Biológica de Una , Una [15°18' S; 39°04' W], Bahia, Brazil, 14 April 1998, A D. Brescovit et al., deposited in IBSP 18250.

Etymology. The specific name is a noun in apposition and refers to the type locality of the holotype.
Diagnosis. The males of S. una n.sp. are distinguished from those of the remaining Neotropical Scytodes by the presence of a ventral, hyaline lamina at the base of a slightly curved sclerotized process ( Figs. 30–31 View FIGURES 22 – 31. 22 – 27 ).
Description. Male (Holotype, IBSP 18250). Carapace orange with brown pattern, as shown on fig. 28. Chelicerae pale yellow with longitudinal brown stripe. Pedipalps pale yellow with prolateral and dorsal longitudinal brown stripe. Labium orange. Endites cream colored with brown margins. Sternum cream colored with brown margins in front of each coxae. Legs orange, except patella I brown. Femora I–IV with several longitudinal brown stains. Abdomen whitish gray with black pattern ( Fig. 28 View FIGURES 22 – 31. 22 – 27 ). Total length 3.8. Carapace slightly domed, 1.8 long, 1.6 wide. Eye diameters: PME 0.14, ALE 0.14, PLE 0.14. Lateral eyes on a tubercle. Chelicerae with subapical hyaline keel and inconspicuous stridulatory ridges. Labium 0.12 long, 0.20 wide. Sternum 0.96 long, 0.80 wide. Leg measurements: I: femur 5.2, patella 0.5, tibia 5.7, metatarsus 7.4, tarsus 0.8, total 19.6; II: 3.8, 0.5, 3.9, 4.4, 0.7, 13.3; III: 2.3, 0.5, 1.9, 2.5, 0.5, 7.7; IV: 3.5, 0.5, 3.3, 3.7, 0.6, 11.6. Palpal femur with short and stout stridulatory pick with rounded and slightly projected socket. Cymbium with one strong distal spine ( Figs. 29–30 View FIGURES 22 – 31. 22 – 27 ). Bulb 0.56 long, slightly constricted medially and slightly bent ventrally. Distal region spoon-shaped with ventral hyaline lamina at the base of slightly retrolateral, curved, sclerotized process ( Figs. 30–31 View FIGURES 22 – 31. 22 – 27 ). Abdomen 1.8 long, 1.2 wide, covered with short, slender hairs. Female unknown.
Variation. Seven males: total length 3.2–4.2; carapace 1.8–2.0; bulb 0.56–0.66.
Distribution. Atlantic Forest. Known from southern state of Bahia to northern state of Rio de Janeiro.
