Etymology. The specific name honours Dr. Ricardo Pinto da Rocha, from the University of São Paulo, São Paulo, Brazil, for his contribution to the study of systematics and biodiversity of Arachnids in Brazil.
Diagnosis. The males of Scytodes pintodarochai n.sp. resemble those of S. brignolii n.sp. by the slender distal area of the male palp, partially covering the retrolateral–ventral sclerotized process ( Figs. 107–109 View FIGURES 106 – 117. 106 – 111 ; 119–121). They are distinguished by the longer distal area and sclerotized process ( Figs 119–121 View FIGURES 118 – 129. 118 – 123 ). The females are distinguished from those of the remaining Neotropical Scytodes by the small, oval and elongated hyaline pockets adjacent to rounded spermathecae on very wide stalks ( Fig. 123 View FIGURES 118 – 129. 118 – 123 ).
Description. Male (Holotype, IBSP 91859). Carapace orange with dark brown pattern as shown on Fig. 118 View FIGURES 118 – 129. 118 – 123 . Chelicerae orange with longitudinal median brown stripe. Pedipalps orange with a dorsal longitudinal brown stripe. Labium and endites cream colored. Sternum cream colored with brown margins in front of each coxae. Legs orange. Femora I-IV with a pair of ventral longitudinal parallel black stripes. Abdomen gray. Anterior half with scattered black spots and posterior half with four transversal black stripes ( Fig. 118 View FIGURES 118 – 129. 118 – 123 ). Total length 3.7. Carapace slightly domed, 2.0 long, 1.8 wide. Eye diameters: PME 0.14, ALE 0.14, PLE 0.14. Lateral eyes on a tubercle. Chelicerae with subapical hyaline keel and inconspicuous stridulatory ridges. Labium 0.10 long, 0.28 wide. Sternum 1.12 long, 0.68 wide. Leg measurements: I: femur 4.0, patella 0.6, tibia 4.2, metatarsus 5.8, tarsus 0.7, total 15.3; II: 2.9, 0.5, 2.9, 3.8, 0.6, 10.7; III: 2.0, 0.5, 1.6, 2.1, 0.5, 6.7; IV: 2.6, 0.6, 2.6, 3.0, 0.6, 9.4. Palpal femur with stridulatory pick long and slender on slightly projected socket. Cymbium with single strong distal spine ( Figs. 119–120 View FIGURES 118 – 129. 118 – 123 ). Bulb 0.46 long, medially narrowed. Distal region long and slender, partially covering a long prolateral sclerotized process ( Figs. 119–121 View FIGURES 118 – 129. 118 – 123 ). Abdomen 1.7 long, 1.3 wide, covered with short, slender hairs.
Female (Paratype, IBSP 91856). Coloration pattern as in male. Total length 4.5. Carapace domed, 2.3 long, 2.0 wide. Eye diameters: PME 0.14, ALE 0.14, PLE 0.14. Lateral eyes as in male. Chelicerae as in male. Labium 0.12 long, 0.28 wide. Sternum 1.16 long, 0.92 wide. Leg measurements: I: femur 2.3, patella 0.5, tibia 2.7, metatarsus 2.9, tarsus 0.7, total 9.1; II: 2.0, 0.5, 2.1, 2.2, 0.6, 7.4; III: 1.4, 0.5, 1.2, 1.4, 0.5, 5.0; IV: 2.0, 0.5, 1.9, 1.9, 0.6, 6.9. Palpal femur with stridulatory pick as in male. Epigynum with narrow positioning ridges separated from each other by three times their width ( Fig. 122 View FIGURES 118 – 129. 118 – 123 ). Vulva with globose spermathecae on wide, short stalks adjacent to elongated hyaline pockets with lateral sclerotized area in the internal border ( Fig. 123 View FIGURES 118 – 129. 118 – 123 ). Abdomen 2.2 long, 2.1 wide, as in male.
Variation. Ten males: total length 3.5–4.2; carapace 1.8–2.1; femur I: 3.1–4.7; bulb 0.46–0.62. Ten females: total length 3.7–5.6; carapace: 1.7–2.4; femur I 2.2–2.9.
Distribution. Atlantic Forest. States of São Paulo and Santa Catarina.
