3.4. Anaplasma marginale infection more likely in male buffalo
Males tended to be more likely to be infected with both A. marginale and A. centrale ( Fig. 3 View Fig ), but based on the full concurrent infection model, this was only statistically significant for the A. marginale ( p = < 0.001) ( Table 2; Supplementary Table 3; Fig. 3b View Fig ). The intensity of infection with A. centrale was higher in males ( p = 0.004) ( Table 2; Supplementary Table 4; Fig. 3c View Fig ).
