Status at New Ireland. New record, based on a specimen photographed at Lissenung Island by Dietmar Amon on 19 Feb. 2010.

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 2.—General distribution: Papua New Guinea to Queensland ( Australia); Malaysia (Sabah) to Ryukyu Islands. Solitary or in small groups, among seagrass near reefs, 8–25 m depth. Marine.
