Benthodesmus tenuis (Günther 1877) —Slender frostfish

Status at New Ireland. New record, based on NTUM 11098 (1 specimen, ca. 335 mm SL, St. CP 4421-34, northeast of New Hanover), NTUM 11102 (1 specimen, ca. 454 mm SL, St. CP 4422-22, northeast of New Hanover), and NTUM 11144 (1 specimen, ca. 405 mm SL, St. CP 4439-23, northeast of New Hanover ).

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1.—General distribution: circumglobal in tropical and warm temperate seas. Benthopelagic, 200–850 m depth. Marine.
