Valenciennea randalli Hoese & Larson 1994 —Greenband goby

Status at New Ireland. New record, based on a video of a specimen taken in Steffen Strait, western Kavieng District at 3–18 m depth, St. KR68, in 2014 (identified by Barry C. Russell).

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 2.—General distribution: Andaman Sea east to Papua New Guinea, north to Ryukyu Islands, south to Queensland ( Australia) and New Caledonia. Found on silty bottoms of lagoon and coastal reefs, 8–35 m depth. Marine.
