Status at New Ireland. New record, based on a specimen photographed at Lissenung Island by Dietmar Amon on 3 Sept. 2006. A specimen photographed at Lissenung Island , Kavieng District , 4 m depth, by Dean Tully on 26 June 2013; a specimen observed at Nemto Island , New Hanover, 4–15 m depth, St. T 23, on 7 Nov. 2006, by Gerald R. Allen.

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2.—General distribution: Sri Lanka east to Philippines and Vanuatu, north to Yaeyama Islands, south to northern Australia and New Caledonia. Solitary or in small groups, on boulders or coral bommies, 1–20 m depth. Marine.
