Scarus altipinnis ( Steindachner 1879) —Minifin parrotfish

Status at New Ireland. First recorded from New Ireland by Steindachner (1879: 18–19). Specimens observed by Jeff Kinch during CFMDP Survey at Kavieng fish market in 2004–2005.

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 2.—General distribution: Philippines east to Marshall and Pitcairn islands, north to Ryukyu and Ogasawara Islands, south to Queensland ( Australia). Found on slopes of seaward coral reefs, 1–30 m depth. Marine.
