Status at New Ireland. New record, based on a specimen observed at Steffen Strait, Kavieng District , 1–21 m depth, St. T 11, on 2 Nov. 2006, by Gerald R. Allen.

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 2.—General distribution: Indonesia east to Mariana and Cook islands, north to Ryukyu Islands, south to northern Australia. Found on sand, rubble and seagrass adjacent to coral reefs, 2– 30 m depth. Marine.
