Status at New Ireland. First recorded from Kulineua River, New Hanover by Munro (1958: 183); previously misidentified from Matanalaua River, New Hanover as Carangoides armatus (non Rüppell, 1830) by Munro (1958: 182–183).
Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1.—General distribution: East Africa east to Fiji, north to Ryukyu Islands, south to northern Australia. Pelagic on sand-rubble bottoms near coral or rocky reefs, 1–100 m depth. Transitional water and marine.
