Status at New Ireland. First recorded from northern New Ireland by Dawson (1985: 41). Specimens photographed at Lissenung Island by Dietmar Amon on 12 June 2009. NTUM 11410 (2 specimens, 02°35.472'S 150°47.211'E, St. KR 30, 6 June 2014).

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 2.—General distribution: East Africa east to Vanuatu, north to southern Japan, south to northern Australia. Found on sand, rubble and seagrass associated with coral reefs, 1–15 m depth. Marine.
