Chlorophthalmus nigromarginatus Kamohara 1953 — Black-edged greeneye

Status at New Ireland. New record for New Ireland and New Guinea, based on NTUM 12164 (1 specimen, 50.5 mm TL, St. CP 4255-50, 11.2 km northwest of Kavieng ).

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 2.—General distribution: Indonesia east to Philippines, north to southern Japan, south to northern Australia. Mesopelagic, 184–330 m depth. Marine.

Remarks. This also represents a new depth record, as the species was previously known only from a range of 184–285 m depth.
