Status at New Ireland. First recorded from Kavieng, New Ireland by Duncker & Mohr (1929: 82), based on ZMH 15546 . NTUM 11409 (1 specimen, 02°34.075'S 150°37.469'E, St. KB58, 22 June 2014 GoogleMaps ).
Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 2.—General distribution: Red Sea and East Africa east to Line and Society islands, north to Ryukyu Islands, south to northern Australia. Found on shallow reefs and in mangrove habitats, 1–12 m depth. Transitional water and marine.
