Apphia flava View in CoL sp. nov.
Figs 1 A–B View FIGURES 1 , 4 K View FIGURES 4 , 15 A–F View FIGURES 15 .
Yellowish white, forewing apices whitish, outer margins narrowly dark brown; median spot on crown black.
Male genitalia. Pygofer lobe rather triangular, posterodorsal angle produced into bluntly triangular lobe, with a few short, stout setae at base, posteroventral angle rounded, ventral process slender, long and S-shaped arising at mid length of ventral margin, exceeding pygofer. Subgenital plate elongate, with basal small segment, surface covered with sender and marginal row of stout setae. Style short, apophysis with dorsal triangular lobe like projection at base, apex foot shaped with well developed heel, toe very slender and elongate. Connective Y-shaped, more than twice as long as arms. Aedeagus large swollen, in basal half, extension of atrium well developed, dorsal apodeme plate like, shaft broader at base narrowed apically, with basal pair of quadrate plates more clearly seen both in lateral and ventral view on posterior margin, shaft in lateral view curved anteriorly near apex, gonopore apical, vesica projecting beyond gonopore. Segment X long, lightly pigmented.
Mesurements. Male 5.8–5.95 mm long, 1.15–1.2 mm wide across eyes and 1.3–1.4 mm wide across hind margins of pronotum.
Material examined. Holotype ♂, INDIA: Meghalaya: Nongpoh , 4.xi.1981, S. Viraktamath ( UASB) . Paratypes 3 ♂, data as for holotype ; 1 ♂, data as for holotype but collected by C.A. Viraktamath ( BMNH, UASB) .
Remarks. This species closely resembles A. burmanica from which it differs in coloration and in having the ventral margin of the basal lobe of the aedeagus strongly rounded instead of slightly convex. From A. assamensis and A. burmanica it differs in having the basal pair of quadrate processes on the aedeagal shaft.
