scientific name

Helichrysum grandiflorum (L.) D. Don
status

Gnaphalium grandiflorum Linnaeus , Species Plantarum 2: 850. 1753.

“Habitat in Aethiopia.” RCN: 6149.

Lectotype (Hilliard & Burtt in Jarvis & Turland in Taxon 47: 361. 1998): [icon] “ Gnaphalium tomentosum , foliis inferioribus subrotundis, & c. ” in Burman, Rar. Afric. Pl.: 213, t. 76, f. 1. 1739. – Typotype: Herb. Burman (G).

Current name: Helichrysum grandiflorum (L.) D. Don ( Asteraceae ).

Note: Hilliard & Burtt (in Bot. J. Linn. Soc. 82: 243. 1981) designated 989.3 (LINN) as lectotype. However, the material lacks the Species Plantarum number (i.e. “4”), is a post-1753 addition to the herbarium and not original material for the name. Hilliard & Burtt subsequently designated a Burman plate as lectotype.
