Annual or biennial; stem single, erect, branched above, papillose. Basal leaves long-petiolate, elliptical, usually deeply toothed; upper cauline leaves linear-lanceolate, remotely toothed and ciliate, lateral veins visible. Sepals c. 1 mm; petals filiform, shorter than the sepals or absent. Pedicels 4-5-5 mm in fruit. Silicula 3-4 x 2-5-3 mm, orbicular-ovate, narrowly winged in the upper third, narrowly but shallowly notched; style very short. Widely introduced and naturalized in Europe.
