Monospilus dispar Sars, 1862
status

Monospilus dispar Sars, 1862 View in CoL .

Rare in studied material, a single individual occurred in a lake (S6) in Hunan. M. dispar is associated with a sandy littoral. The species was described from Norway and recorded throughout the world, but recent studies showed that in the Neotropics it is replaced by sibling-species; the taxonomic status of other tropical records is questionable. In Eurasia, M. dispar is common in cold and temperate regions, rather rare in tropics. For a description see Alonso (1996).
