Type locality: Broken River , Canterbury .

Broun number: 2770 (as given in May 1967: 178).

Remarks: Broun did not mention the number of specimens examined. In order to stabilize this name, a lectotype and two paralectotypes are here designated from the material of Protarphius tricavus .
