Type Locality: USA, Florida, Brevard Co., Georgiana.
Vernacular Names: Round-tailed Muskrat.
Synonyms: Neofiber apalachicolae Schwartz 1953 ; Neofiber exoristus Schwartz 1953 ; Neofiber nigrescens A. H. Howell 1920 ; Neofiber struix Schwartz 1952 .
Distribution: Most of peninsular Florida, extralimitally in extreme SE Georgia and Florida panhandle, USA.
Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (nt).
Discussion: Geographic races initially delimited by Schwartz (1953), but Whitaker and Hamilton (1998) recommended nigrescens and struix as synonyms of N. a. alleni . See Birkenholz (1972, Mammalian Species, 15).
