Material examined. INFUECO stations: BC3 0710, 1 specimen, 353 m depth.

Remarks. The cladistic analysis of the species of the genus Pionosyllis ( San Martín et al. 2009) has elucidated that P. dionisi is related to Paraehlersia , which currently has eight valid species ( Prado & San Martín 2024), two of them inhabiting the waters of the Canary Islands, P. dionisi and P. ferrugina ( Langerhans, 1881) .

Habitat. The type locality of P. dionisi is the east coast of Tenerife, collected in coralligenous circalittoral substrates of Dendrophyllia ramea , coarse sand, silt with stones, of 40–466 m depth.

Distribution. From the Cantabrian Sea to the Canary Islands, Mediterranean Sea and Elephant Island (South Shetlands, Antarctica) ( San Martín 2003; San Martín et al. 2009).
