Material examined

HOLOTYPE m. Turkey. Denizli, Honaz, Sahinler village , 450 m altitude, 5 February 2001. Sample from rotten wood of Juglans regia in a garden . PARATYPES: Three m from the same sample. Type deposition: Holotype (female) and one paratype (m) at the Zoological Museum of Atatürk University , Erzurum, Turkey. Other paratypes (two m) in the author’s collection .

Diagnosis

Description of female (gure 2A, B). Length of idiosoma (excluding gnathosoma) of holotype 338 m m, width 220 m m, mean length and width of three paratypes 338 (335–340) and 222 (220–224) m m, respectively.

Dorsum (gure 2A). Podonotal seta j5 short and smooth. The remaining setae of podonotum are plumose. Opisthonotal setae J1–J6 plumose. Setae J4 not reaching the bases of setae J5. The insertions of setae J6 lie 65 m m apart from. Setae Z1–Z5 are plumose. Setae Z3 not reaching the bases of setae Z4. The distance between setae Z5–J6 33 m m. Setae S1 similar to setae Z1 and not reaching bases of setae Z2. Setae S2 long and plumose, and overlapping half their length over the margin of opisthonotum. Setae S3 absent. Setae S4 similar to setae S2. In the marginal row of the opisthonotum, there are seven setae and all are short and thorn-like. Length of, and distance between, opisthonotal setae as follows:

Pores. Pores po1 lie on a line connecting setae s1–s2 and shifted towards setae s1. Pores po2 on a line connecting setae s3–j4 and shifted toward setae s3. Pores po3 on a line connecting setae s4– s5. Pores Po1 located above the insertion of setae Z1. Pores Po2 on a line connecting setae S1–S2 and shifted toward setae S1. Pores Po3 located outside the insertion of Z3. Pores Po4 on a line connecting setae S4–Z5.

Pattern of dorsal integument. The ornamentation of the dorsal shield is shown in gure 2A.

Venter (gure 2B). The chaetotaxy and shape of the peritremal shield are typical for the genus. Adgenital shields and pore gv2 absent. With two setae on the anterior margin of the ventro-anal shield.

A Y nities. P. (P.) denizliensis sp. nov. is closely related to Prozercon (P.) tragardhi ( Halbert, 1923) , from which it may be distinguished by the following features:

Prozercon (P.) tragardhi

(1) Setae j6 and z2 overlap the posterior margin of podonotum

(2) Setae J4 reach the bases of J5

(3) Setae S3 present

(4) Pores Po3 lie on a line connecting setae Z4–S3 and shifted towards setae Z4

(5) Seta Z2 reaches the base of Z3

(6) Eight setae in the marginal row of the opisthonotum

P. (P.) denizliensis sp. n.

(1) Setae j6 and z2 do not reach posterior margin of podonotum

(2) Setae J4 not reaching the bases of J5

(3) Setae S3 absent

(4) Pores Po3 located outside the insertion of setae Z3

(5) Seta Z2 not reaching the bases of seta Z3

(6) Seven setae in the marginal row of theopisthonotum
