Current name: Sambucus nigra L. ( Caprifoliaceae ).

Note: Greuter (in Candollea 44: 566. 1989) argues that Linnaeus provided a new combination for this variety at the rank of species in Fl. Anglica: 14 (1754). However the epithet is indented beneath “nigra”, elsewhere accepted by Greuter as acceptance of varietal rank.
