Ecnomina spinosa View in CoL / legula -group

The spinosa / legula -group of six species- attunga , boogoo , gullea , legula , spinosa and vega is characterized primarily by the pair of long lateral processes on segment IX with ventrally directed bristles or spines. Other common but not exclusive characters are that the superior appendages are usually linked by a membranous structure near the middle and the inferior appendages are relatively small, usually with paired fingerlike processes distally; females are known of gullea , legula and vega , and the single mesal process on sternite VIII is elongate but relatively broad or bladelike ( Figs 175–177 View FIGURES 175–183 ). Members of this group are from south-eastern Australia, eastern New South Wales, eastern Victoria and Tasmania.

Forewing length about 2.8–3.1 times width: male 4.2–6.0 mm, female 4.4–5.0 mm. Forewing forks 2, 3, 4 and 5 present, fork 2 relatively long, sessile, nygma absent, length fork 2 about 1.1–1.3 times length of fork 3; fork 3 relatively long, sessile or with very short footstalk, length fork 3 at least 5.3 times length footstalk, footstalk length 0–1.1 times length cross-vein m, cross-veins r-m and m not contiguous at footstalk fork 3, r-m and m separated by about 0.5–1.3 times length cross-vein m; fork 4 similar length to fork 3; fork 5 long, length about 1.8 times length of fork 4. Hindwing length about 2.8–3.3 times width, forks 2, 3 and fork 5 present, fork 2 sessile, length about 1.2–1.6 times length of fork 3.
