Podangis View in CoL and Rangaeris
Carlsward et al. (2006) included Podangis dactyloceras ( Reichenbach 1865: 190) Schlechter (1918: 82) in their DNA-based analyses of angraecoid orchids. It was sister to Rangaeris rhipsalisocia ( Reichenbach 1865: 189) Summerhayes in Hutchinson & Dalziel (1936b: 450) with strong bootstrap support (> 90%). Both species have distichous, imbricate, iridiform leaves borne on a short stem. They also have similar column and pollinarium structure as well as a chromosome number of 2 n = 46 ( Arends et al. 1980). Morphologically, R. rhipsalisocia has less in common with the rest of the polyphyletic Rangaeris ( Carlsward et al. 2006) , so it seems logical to transfer it to Podangis .
