Lectotype (Schrire in Turland & Jarvis in Taxon 46: 473. 1997): [icon] "Coluteae affinis fruticosa argentea floribus spicatis e viridi purpureis siliquis falcatis" in Sloane, Voy. Jamaica 2: 37, t. 176, f. 3. 1725. - Typotype: Herb. Sloane 6: 8, upper left specimen ( BM-SL) .

Current name: Indigofera tinctoria L. View in CoL ( Fabaceae : Faboideae ).

Note: A later homonym of Indigofera argentea Burm. f. (1768) and hence illegitimate. See comments by Ali ( Rev. Gen. Indigofera : 565. 1958).
