FEMALE (Specimens measured – Benin: 1, Burundi: 3, Ghana: 2, Kenya: 3, Rwanda: 1, Sierra Leone: 2, Uganda: 5, Zaire: 2).

Dorsum ­ Dorsal shield with few lateral striae anterior to S2, 324(288­341) long, 243(202­264) wide. Setae j1 32(26­37), j3 30(21­35), j4 and j5 10(8­14), j6 11(8­16), J2 12(8­16), J5 6(5­8), z2 25(14­34), z4 30(16­38), z5 10(6­14), Z1 13(10­21), Z4 14(8­26), Z5 75(62­86), s4 50(34­59), S2 22(14­35), S4 24(14­35), S5 21(11­38), r3 13(10­19), R1 11(8­13). Dorsal setae smooth, except Z5 which are serrate.

Peritreme ­ Reaching level of between j3 and z2.

Venter ­ Ventral shields smooth, except for few striae on the anterior region of the ventrianal shield. Distances between ST1­ST3 56(51­59), ST2­ST2 66(62­70) and ST5­ ST5 73(59­82). With 2 pairs of metapodal shields. Ventrianal shield 52(46­58) long, 70(62­77) wide at ZV2 level and 101(91­110) wide at anus level.

Spermatheca ­ Calyx trumpet­shaped, 15(10­19) long; atrium small.

Legs ­ Macroseta of leg I sharp­tipped, macrosetae of other legs knobbed: SgeI 28(24­ 32), SgeII 28(19­34), SgeIII 38(24­43), StiIII 24(19­29), SgeIV 57(43­62), StiIV 35(27­ 40), StIV 68(56­82).

REMARKS: Some of the specimens collected in Uganda were noticeably smaller than other specimens of this species and had concurrently proportionally shorter setae; other characteristics of those specimens were similar to the type specimens.
