Helix vitrea Born, 1778: 394 [1780: 383, pl. 15, figs. 15, 16]. Type material — syntype: NHMUK 1868.7.7.2 (1 spm.). Type locality —[no locality given; “ Sierra Leone ” on NHMUK label]. Distribution — Liberia, Sierra Leone ( Brown 1994: 67).

Remarks. The locality was unknown to Reeve ( 1856 c: pl. 17, figs. 80a, b) but Billotte (1885: 111) and Bourguignat (1889: 168) gave Egypt as a locality, no doubt incorrectly.
