Genus group Aleuroctonus View in CoL View at ENA
Included genera. Aleuroctonus , Dasyomphale .
Distribution Neotropical region, from southern USA (Florida) to Chile.
Hosts Whiteflies belonging to subfamily Aleurodicinae ( Hemiptera : Aleyrodidae ).
Diagnosis
Funicular segments transverse (figures 98–103); frontal suture present medially (figures 23, 26); vertexal suture absent; malar sulcus absent; eyes hairy (figures 23, 26); mid lobe of mesoscutum and scutellum with numerous scattered setae (figures 24, 27); axillae situated entirely in front of scuto-scutellar sulcus and separated from mesoscutum by a sulcus (figures 24, 27); scutellum transverse (0.7–0.8× as long as wide); submarginal vein with three to eight setae on dorsal surface; with a distinct break between submarginal and marginal veins (figure 6).
Monophyly
This genus group is newly created here and the monophyly for the group is supported by the following apomorphies: frontal suture present medially; malar sulcus absent; axillae situated in front of scuto-scutellar sulcus; mid lobe of mesoscutum and scutellum with numerous scattered setae; submarginal vein with three to eight setae. Some of these apomorphies are present also in the other genus groups: malar sulcus is absent in two genera of the Euderomphale group; axillae is situated in front of scuto-scutellar sulcus, and scutellum transverse in the entire Euderomphale group; mid lobe of mesoscutum with numerous scattered setae in three genera of the Entedononecremnus group; scutellum with numerous scattered setae in two genera of the Entedononecremnus group; submarginal vein with more than two setae in the entire Entedononecremnus group. Hence, the only unique apomorphy is the incomplete frontal suture (present only medially), in the Euderomphale group this groove is absent or complete, while it is always absent in the Entedononecremnus group.
