Diagnosis. This species can be distinguished from all other Neotropical Epirhyssa by the combination of the following characters: 1) mesosoma totally or almost totally blackish; 2) occipital carina weakly present, not joining hypostomal carina; 3) clypeus with the apical tubercle sharp; and 4) tergite II with longitudinal wrinkling. The species is very closely related to E. electronigra sp. n. (see the diagnosis and notes of the latter species).
Distribution. Brazil, Peru.
Material examined. Peru: Female ( UNSM, currently on loan to ZMUT): Dept. of Cusco, Tono, 12°57’ S, 70°32’ W, 862 m., Castillo leg., Malaise.
Biological notes.This species is currently restricted to western Amazonia in mid altitude areas and is recorded for the first time from Peru.
