Type species: Chrysaster hagicola Kumata, 1961 .

The diagnosis of the genus is given by Kumata (1961). Larvae mine leaves of Fabaceae . Thus far, a total of seven plant species, Lespedeza bicolor Turcz. , L. cyrtobotrya Miq. , Robinia hispida L., R. neomexicana A. Gray , R. pseudoacacia L., R. viscosa Vent. and Robinia sp. have been recorded as hosts of both C. hagicola Kumata, 1961 and C. ostensackenella ( Fitch, 1859) ( Kumata 1961; De Prins & De Prins 2005, 2014).

The genus Chrysaster is reported for the first time from China.
